| Source | LAION img2dataset LAION-5B download guide (Romain Beaumont, LAION): "The below config produces a dataset of size 220TB" at 384-px resizing (a 256-px resize gives ~50 TB). Cost derived at the AWS us-east-1 tiers in the 2026-08-31 Price List: 10 TB x $0.09 + 40 TB x $0.085 + 100 TB x $0.07 + 70 TB x $0.05 = $900 + $3,400 + $7,000 + $3,500 = $14,800. The widely quoted ~$15,800 rests on a third-party 240 TB estimate, not a LAION figure. · img2dataset dataset_examples/laion5B.md, "Download the images" section; AWS DataTransfer-Out-Bytes tiers. |
