Factory versus site-built accepted-service scenario

26 vs 30 weeks · assumedmodeled

Value kindmodeled — Interpret this value according to its displayed kind, scope, source, and as-of date.
ScopeAssumed equal-duty power-room alternatives on one calendar from package release, with factory/site overlap and common utility and site-test gates. Chapter 6.4’s worked case states every input and crossover; Chapter 2.1 owns the network method. No supplier duration range or monetary saving is established.

SourceGAO Schedule Assessment Guide, December 2015, method reference; guide scenario authored September 8, 2026. Durations are assumptions, not market lead times. · Sequencing activities and identifying the critical path; applied through Chapter 2.1
DerivationApply Chapter 2.1 ’s predecessor method to this package. Module installation finishes at max(18, 20) + 4 = week 24; accepted service is max(24, 22) + 2 = week 26 . The site-built room finishes at 18 + 10 = week 28; accepted service is max(28, 22) + 2 = week 30 . Select the module on the owner’s stated condition: it advances usable capacity by four weeks. Keep the lifting slot, field-joint inspection, protection tests and control-point verification in that four-week site interval; a witnessed factory test does not erase them. Flip case: utility readiness at week 30 makes both accepted dates max(installation finish, 30) + 2 = week 32 . The acceleration disappears once the utility gate reaches week 28. At or beyond that crossover, reject the premium on schedule grounds unless a separately priced quality or crew benefit pays for it. Factory delivery has its own crossover: delivery at week 24 makes module installation finish at week 28 and removes the baseline advantage. Book the factory and haul route against those dates before freezing the box. GAO’s Schedule Assessment Guide supports the dependency method; the full schedule and risk analysis remain in Chapter 2.1 . Chapter 2.4 assigns custody and remedies, while Chapter 6.6 releases the site package. Cost comparison uses contribution and avoided carrying cost for accepted service, not gross cluster revenue.
